Gyde provided statutory planning and project management services for the proposed mixed use shop top housing development.

Our role included coordinating the preparation and lodgement of the Development Application to Ku-ring-gai Council for the demolition of the existing supermarket, car parks and shop building, the adaptive reuse of the heritage listed ‘Churchers Restaurant’ for office use, and the construction of a six storey development comprising a supermarket, two specialty retail tenancies including a liquor store, seventy residential apartments and basement car parking.

The proposal also included the relocation of Balfour Lane in accordance with the Ku-ring-gai Development Control Plan, internal fitout of the supermarket and liquor store, external signage, associated civil infrastructure and landscaping works, and subdivision of the land. Following delays in the assessment process, Gyde lodged a deemed refusal appeal in the Land and Environment Court of NSW, with the matter subsequently resolved through the Section 34 conciliation conference process, securing development consent for the project.
