14-26 Wattle Street, Pyrmont

Gyde supported the project team in securing approvals for a landmark mixed-use redevelopment at 14–26 Wattle Street, Pyrmont, transforming a former City of Sydney depot and quarry site into a vibrant urban precinct.

The project, known as Pyrmont Place, forms a key component of the broader Blackwattle Bay renewal and represents a significant $900 million investment in Sydney’s inner harbour. The proposal comprises a multi-building development delivering residential apartments, hotel accommodation, retail and commercial uses, a childcare centre, and an indoor recreation facility, supported by basement parking, landscaped communal areas, and new publicly accessible through-site links.

Designed as an integrated mixed-use precinct, the development provides a diverse range of housing and employment opportunities while activating the site with community and recreational uses. The inclusion of public domain improvements and pedestrian connections enhances permeability and contributes to the evolution of Pyrmont as a highly walkable, mixed-use neighbourhood.

The project has undergone an extensive planning pathway, including concept approval through the Land and Environment Court and subsequent detailed design and modification applications. Throughout this process, careful consideration has been given to urban design, built form, and integration with the surrounding precinct, ensuring the development responds to its waterfront context and industrial heritage.

The Pyrmont Place development demonstrates the successful delivery of a complex, large-scale mixed-use project that supports urban renewal objectives, contributes to housing supply, and delivers high-quality public and community infrastructure within a strategically important inner-city location.
