Inner West Our Fairer Future – Council’s Approach for Housing in the Inner West

Gyde supported Inner West Council to deliver an extensive engagement program on the contentious Our Fairer Future Plan – Council’s Approach for Housing in the Inner West.

The project attracted extensive community, stakeholder and media interest, and the engagement program included:

• 11 Community drop-in sessions across the LGA, attended by 777 people
• “Speak to a planner” meetings at all drop in sessions, attended by 313 people
• 8 Ashfield Service Centre drop-in sessions, attended by 60 people
• 342 calls received by the dedicated Council hotline, and 123 emails in the project inbox
• Meetings with key stakeholder and local democracy groups
• Doorknocking of properties flagged for potential future acquisition.

Engagement activities promoted through letters, social media, website, Council newsletters, community radio and television ads, displays in service centres and libraries, and posters in local businesses.

The project culminated in over 3,146 submissions received from the community, local businesses, key stakeholders and agencies, and local democracy groups. Gyde Consulting facilitated the review, analysis and final reporting of all submissions received for consideration by Council.
