Gwynneville Housing Renewal Project

Gwynneville Housing Renewal Project

Gyde is providing strategic planning, urban design, visual impact and social planning services to support the Gwynneville Housing Renewal Project.

Gyde is working closely with Homes NSW and Wollongong City Council to rezone the planning controls that apply to the Gwynneville precinct, an area suitable for future mid-rise housing renewal, enhanced open spaces and key infrastructure upgrades. Gyde has prepared a comprehensive Masterplan supported by a Visual Bulk Assessment, Planning Proposal and Social Infrastructure Needs Assessment to facilitate the rezoning of the site.

The Gwynneville precinct currently contains a substantial amount of Homes NSW owned land, as well as a mix of privately owned dwellings. The Planning Proposal will enable the development of up to 1,250 new homes, of which 50% will be social and affordable dwellings.

The renewal of the Gwynneville precinct will deliver affordable and diverse housing options that provide for a broad range of community needs - including students, people on low incomes, people with disability and seniors - and create a high-amenity, walkable and attractive residential neighbourhood.
