Career Opportunity: Urban Designer with visual analysis experience
Gyde Consulting is seeking a qualified and motivated Urban Designer. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional who is passionate about creating high quality urban outcomes and is interested in helping grow our Visual Impact Assessment (VIA) and Scenic Assessment capability.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Design Lead in delivering our growing visual impact services, and urban design outcomes across a diverse portfolio of projects. We are looking for someone who combines strong design capability with strategic thinking, and an enthusiasm for learning and developing their skill base. The successful candidate will have experience in visual analysis and technical knowledge of the process involved.

The Role
This role will involve:
- Working with and supporting our Design Lead in the delivery of visual and scenic impact assessment and urban design projects
- Preparation of visual analysis, graphics and reports
- Working collaboratively with our clients, sub-consultants and our internal team of planners and allied specialists at Gyde
- Supporting client relationships and contributing to business development initiatives
- Mentoring junior staff and contributing to a positive team culture
Desired Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Qualifications in Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Architecture or related discipline
- At least 5 years’ professional experience in urban design or a discipline related to scenic visual impact assessments
- Proficiency in relevant design and visualisation software
- Excellent written, verbal and graphic communication skills
- Experience working within NSW and/or ACT planning and environmental assessment frameworks
- A collaborative and proactive approach to project delivery and business development
- Demonstrated experience in Land and Environment Court proceedings would be highly valued.
